Through our Church School support, forty Welcome Backpacks were carefully filled with school supplies, toys, cuddly stuffed polar bears and other treats to share with children arriving in Canada through Jeremiah House this year. Calculators were given to the older children and hats and mitts were shared with family members as well. Our visits to Jeremiah House are when the blessing of this ministry really comes to life.
St. Michael and All Angels supports the Breakfast program at Woodland Heights Elementary School throughout the school year financially and with volunteers committed to ensure children have the opportunity not to be hungry when they start their day. 2016 will be the 11th year of our Church's involvement. There have been more than 52 members of this parish who have or are working in the spirit of God within the school community.
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat..." Matthew 25:34
Regularly, our faithful and caring volunteers deliver the many items given generously by our parish community to St. Paul's Daily Bread Program who support of an average of 900 families a month. With grocery items and financial donations, we help those who are in need of the services offered through The Fellowship Centre of Daily Bread.
Our parish community fills shoe boxes in October and November for needy children through the Samaritan Purse program. A few items of school supplies and small personal gifts bring a happy smile to a child's face while reminding them that God's love is for everyone.
