What is an Anglican?
St. Michael's is an Anglican church but what does that mean?
St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church is part of the Diocese of Huron which is part of the Anglican Church of Canada. Our parish is comprised of people from many different backgrounds and countries. Some have grown up in our church while others have joined us along their journey through life. But you'll find St. Mike's - as we affectionately call it - a welcoming community where we value everyone's presence, hoping you will encounter God in our sacred space.
To understand what being an Anglican entails, please feel free to download the comprehensive booklet from the link below titled, "What is an Anglican", written by the Ven. R.K. Farrell, when he was Rector of St. John the Evangelist, London, Ontario from 1978 – 1984 and updated by their Worship Committee in 2015.
What is an Anglican?
The Apostles' Creed
The Apostles’ Creed
of the Western Church dated from the 2nd
century, and used in Morning Prayer, at Baptism
and as an alternative in the Eucharistic rite.
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.
